The Gaelic society held their annual Culloden service today the 14th of April 2007 in remembrance of the many Clansmen who were killed during the short battle upon Drumossie Moor on wednesday the 16th 1746.
In beautiful sunshine (somewhat different from the actual day-when a cold wind and sleet swept over the moor- The Gaelic Society were joined by many Commemoration/Re-enactment groups, and representatives of the present Clan Chiefs who's ancestors lay buried upon the moor.
A large public attendance completed this solemn remembrance. At the wreath laying ceremony Jim Singer of Crann Tara laid a fitting tribute to the gallant soles who fought valiantly on the day for King, Country & Religion only to taste defeat.
We will never forget them. |
