14 - 09 - 2007 BATTLE OF STIRLING BRIG COMMEMORATION

The Stirling Brig Commemoration was held under clear skies, a good number of people from a lot of the various groups and societies were in attendance as David Ross gave another great patriotic speech and enjoyed with the audience a wee joke about our heroes in Paris last Wednesday evening, naturally he told us the historical reason (READ MORE) for the event and how we can still see the pillars of the old brig at low tide.

Ted Christopher then laid the wreath in commemoration to all the fallen at Stirling Brig. Ted's vision is to have this as an annual event and hopefully involve Stirling Council as they have been very reluctant in recent years to promote this event in any form. Now though with the help of Crann Tara and the Wallace Society we hope to capitalise on this years breakthrough and do something even better in the coming years.

After the brief ceremony we all made our way to Stirling Rugby club which is just across the road, what a fantastic venue it is too. The night was started off by the incredible Ted Christopher and later he was joined by his Bannockburn band, everyone was up on the floor dancing and it was great.

Then the top of the bill arrived on the floor to a rapturous welcome and gave us a fantastic display of pipes and drumming. If you have never seen the Red Hot Chilli Pipers I do recommend them as they have an unbelievable talent both with the pipes and of course the exceptional drumming.

The night was then finished off by Ted and the Bannockburn band who gave us heart rendering patriotic finale.
